Advancement

Advancement is self-paced. Typically each year, several scouts achieve the rank of Eagle, the highest rank in Scouting. Advancement is encouraged but not required. Most Scouts progress to First Class by applying themselves to the requirements, by attending the meetings and going on trips.

When Scouts turn 14, they may dual register as both a Scout and as a Venture Scout in our associated Venture Crew 566. In the Venture Crew, Scouts participate in higher adventure trips including multi-night backpacking trips, open water kayaking, SCUBA diving, and horseback riding.

Through leadership activities and high adventure opportunities, our Troop often keeps Scouts involved to the maximum age of 18 and the Venture Crew to the maximum age of 21.
